One of the top elements was that there were so many stars who were possible killers… Sean Connery, Lauren Bacall, Ingrid Bergman, Vanessa Redgrave, John Gielgud, Anthony Perkins, Jacqueline Bisset, etc., were all possibilities. A few years later, a version of the Death on the Nile story was done and was not as good. I saw it, but forgot the plot.

The 1978 version was surprisingly good. It avoids both taking itself too seriously yet also doesn’t cheapen its own value. It knows what it is and the scenes floating down the Nile look fantastic. Being actually outdoors just can’t be beaten. And yes, it’s not a good time to film in Egypt.
